January 22nd, 2010 - Minimal Synth
Not unlike the proverbial box of chocolate, when you come across an unbeknownst Atlantic record, with it's iconic green and red label, you never really know what you're gonna get. With a little past history and an educated guess you could rule out the chances of said record containing two beautiful cuts of robo-motional minimal-synth. But then you'd likely miss out on such gems as Krisma's Miami EP.
Krisma understated roll in the history of electronic music dates back to 1976, when Maurizio Arcieri and his wife Christina Moser collaborated with producer Nico Papathanassiou and his better known brother Vangelis to release the singles "U" and "Amore" under the name Chrisma. In '78 they released the full-length "Chinese Restaurant", which featured the top-10 single "Lola". During the album's promotional tour, Maurizio gained notoriety for the "finger job" -- an aptly named stage trick in which he appeared to cut off his finger with a razor.
On top of the musical success, Krisma also directed three videos for MTV and developed KRISMINO, the first minisequencer. So yeah, they pretty much did everything. Awesome.
Some more info on Krisma:
And here's the record. "Samora" is a Soapism fav.

We're gonna try to record it too...think we'll be successful?
I guess you should come, just in case.
January 6th, 2010 - Soap Store
Holy Balls! Is That a Record Store?
Well, I wouldn't call it a store, per se, seeing as how it only has 8 items in it so far. More of a shoppe, or boutique if you will.
But it will be a store. Maybe even an emporium one day!
Check back frequently, because we will post records here before we post them on Discogs and, ultimately, E(vil)-bay, for drastically inflated prices (jk-ish).
To learn more about shipping, grading, etc., visit the store. Feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions.
Cool!
January 5th, 2010 - Soap Sez
Time seems to move quickly these days. In the time it took you to read that last sentence, I already tweeted about the sick new app I just designed. All while you were reading that last sentence. Anyways, it comes with no surprise to us that the sometimes-funny music geek/social commentary site Sounds of The Apocalypse you once cherished has faded into the background with the millions of other irrelevant web ephemera
Well, SOAP is back.
(And before we continue, just so you know: Yes, we are aware that you’re probably thinking:
“Way to go assholes! How convenient of you to sidestep the obligatory best-of-the-year list!”
Well, sorry. Carrying on...)
While we may have not-so-subtly leapt from the ‘aughts (thank God) to the teens without a proper goodbye or hello, we offer up the new SOAP site, complete with new content, a new format, and maybe even (though realistically, probably not) new purpose!
It’s cold as tits in New York right now, so we’ve stayed busy in the depths of The Thing, pillaging records from obscurity. More on these to come.
Oh, and now there’s parties. The Wet Set is moving into its third edition, getting heavy with Lee Douglas, My Cousin Roy, Drew Van Atten, LaRoux and hosts Factory Aire.
Stop by the White Slab Palace, watch out for the décor, and tip your bartenders. See you soon.
