The Flyer That Never Was

In what will surely whip all of East Atlanta, Cabbage Town, and the narrow strip of life on Ponce de Leon into a dance-not-dance frenzy, it has been made public that VHS or BETA is coming to Atlanta this weekend for two nights in support of their upcoming album. They will be backing the release with DJ sets, in lieu of, I don’t know, actually performing. It’s OK though, cause SOAP faves Shock Cinema are playing on Saturday, and they kick ass. Even more peculiar is the fact that VHS or BETA will be playing Friday night at Midtown lounge Bazzaar which seems like an odd pairing, but perhaps this is part of some murky city initiative to de-gentrify Midtown through the removal of down tempo and “sleepy” house music. SOAP’s involvement has ranged from flyer design to the Friday night slot to the Saturday night closer slot to an unpublicized hybrid of both. As it stands, Factory Aire will be DJing the set after VHS or BETA with Drew Van Atten, and it should get rowdy…See you there, fool!
